Privacy & Cookies
Last updated: 2 November 2026
The short version: Irish Trove is a free list of Irish-made products. We don't sell anything, take payments, or ask you to sign up, and the site doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies.
Who we are
Irish Trove (irishtrove.ie) is a directory of products made in Ireland, run from Ireland. Each listing links straight to the maker's own website. Under the GDPR, Irish Trove is the “controller” for the little information described on this page. You can reach us at the email address in Contact us below.
No orders, payments or accounts
You can't buy anything on Irish Trove, and there are no accounts, logins, newsletters or forms. We never ask for your name, address or card details. When you click “Buy Directly from Producer”, the maker's website opens in a new tab. Anything you buy there, and any details you give, are handled by that maker under their privacy policy, not ours.
Cookies and what's stored on your device
Irish Trove doesn't set any cookies. We don't use analytics, tracking pixels or advertising networks.
The only thing the site saves is in your browser's own storage (“local storage”). It stays on your device, and we never see it or receive it:
- snow: saved only if you press the ❄️ snow button. It remembers “on” or “off” so the falling snow stays the way you like it.
- cookieChoice: your answer to the cookie notice (“accepted” or “rejected”). The notice only appears if we add Google ads in future (see below). If you answered it on an earlier version of the site, your old answer may still be saved, but it isn't used for anything.
You can delete these at any time by clearing your browser's site data for irishtrove.ie. The site works the same without them.
Hosting (Netlify)
The website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. Like any web host, Netlify's servers receive your IP address and basic browser details when you load a page, and may keep them in logs for security and to keep the site running. Netlify is a US company, so this information may be processed outside the EU under the safeguards in Netlify's privacy policy.
The map on the search page
The map's background pictures (“tiles”) load straight from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org). If those can't load, or you open the site from a saved copy, they come from Esri (server.arcgisonline.com) instead. To send the tiles, these services receive your IP address, your browser details and our site's address. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy and Esri's privacy policy. Everything else on the site, including product photos, the festive heading font and the map code itself, comes from our own website, not from other companies.
Links to makers, Instagram and other sites
Product buttons, maker links and sponsor tiles take you to other websites, for example a maker's online shop or an Instagram page. Once you're there, that site's own privacy and cookie policies apply (Instagram's is here). We don't receive any information from those sites about what you do there.
Advertising
The ads on Irish Trove are simple pictures from sponsors, stored on our own website. They don't track you, and we don't count or record clicks. Product listings are never paid for.
If we add Google AdSense or website statistics later, we'll ask for your consent before any cookies are used, and we'll update this page first.
If you email us
If you contact us, for example to list your products or to advertise, we use your email address and message only to reply and deal with your request. We don't add you to mailing lists or pass your details to anyone else. We keep emails only as long as we need them for that.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. You can also object to or restrict how it's used, or ask for a copy. Because we don't collect personal details through the website, in practice this mostly applies to emails you've sent us. To make a request, contact us.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to Ireland's Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

If anything changes, for example if we add ads that use cookies, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.
